THE PLANTEURS HOUSE

A thousand feet over the dramatic caribean sea,the plantation looks upon the two magnificent valleys of ACOMAT and LES PLAINES

Built during the mid 18 th century, the plantation covered more than 200 acres by the early 1900s when the decline of the coffee market forced the owners to stop the production and and let go of the house.

10 years ago Bernadette Beuzelin Hayot a local entrepeneur, art historian and passionate about French and Creole architecture became the new owner.

From the main house, built in 1764 and typical of the leeward plantation there is a panoramic view of the mountains and the carribean sea.

Village craftsmen using timeless technicques restored the house to its original creole style splendor, using only local wood such as CARAPATE or MAHOGANY...

.

Surrounded by breezy verandahs on the ground and upper level and filled with original antiques from French England or Spanish influences, the house is a testimony to the fine taste of a bygone era...

Original coffee artifacts from around the world are tastefully displayed and the elegant simplicity of the familly furnishings help create a most charming atmosphere.

Through a discovery path planted with local.ESSENCES such as MAHOGANY GUMBO LIMBO ACOMATS and MERISIERS,you may reach the ECO MUSEUM where you will learn the different steps of the coffee making.
